Itinerary

Day 01 :
Day 1: Sigiriya – Dambulla – Kandy

Morning: Sigiriya Rock Fortress & Village Experience
After breakfast at your hotel in Sigiriya, begin your morning adventure with a visit to the iconic Sigiriya Rock Fortress, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This ancient royal citadel, often called the “Lion Rock,” rises nearly 200 meters above the surrounding jungle. As you climb to the top, you’ll see beautiful fresco paintings, the Mirror Wall, and the Lion’s Paw Terrace. From the summit, enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of the lush green plains and distant mountains — a perfect photo opportunity.
After exploring Sigiriya, experience authentic Sri Lankan village life with a traditional village tour. Ride on a bullock cart, take a boat ride across a small lake, and enjoy a home-cooked Sri Lankan lunch served on a lotus leaf. You’ll get to see how local farmers live and work, and taste fresh organic food cooked with traditional methods.

Afternoon: Dambulla Cave Temple & Drive to Kandy
Next, visit the Dambulla Cave Temple, another UNESCO World Heritage Site. This temple complex is built inside five large caves and contains over 150 Buddha statues and colorful wall paintings. The peaceful atmosphere and ancient art make it a spiritual highlight of your journey.
Afterward, continue your drive toward Kandy, a beautiful city surrounded by hills and forests. On the way, you may stop at a spice garden in Matale to learn about Sri Lanka’s famous spices such as cinnamon, cardamom, and cloves. You can also see how traditional herbal oils are made.

Evening: Kandy Cultural Show & Temple of the Tooth
Arrive in Kandy by evening and witness a traditional Kandyan dance performance, where dancers in colorful costumes perform to the sound of rhythmic drums. Later, visit the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic (Sri Dalada Maligawa) — the most sacred Buddhist temple in Sri Lanka. The golden-roofed temple holds a tooth relic of Lord Buddha, and during the evening ceremony, you can experience the spiritual energy of local devotees and monks chanting.
After dinner at a local restaurant, drive back to Sigiriya for your overnight stay at your hotel.

Visitors often enjoy observing baby elephants being bottle-fed by the caretakers.

Afternoon: Scenic Drive to Colombo
Continue your trip to Colombo, the commercial capital of Sri Lanka. The drive passes through beautiful countryside and small towns, giving you a glimpse of daily Sri Lankan life. Upon arrival, have lunch at a cozy restaurant in Colombo where you can try delicious Sri Lankan rice and curry or fresh seafood dishes.

Evening: Colombo City Tour
In the evening, take a guided Colombo city tour to see the perfect mix of old colonial charm and modern city life.
